Presentation Night 2025: Celebrating a Season of Success
Pontefract Squash & Leisure Club held its annual Presentation Night on Friday 13th July – a fantastic evening celebrating the club’s achievements throughout the 2024/25 season.
Hosted by James Willstrop and Mick Todd, the event recognised the hard work, dedication, and accomplishments of both individuals and teams across all levels of the club. The evening was a true celebration of what has been a standout season.
Club Achievements
It’s been a year to remember for Pontefract’s Yorkshire League teams. Yorkshire League 1 were crowned Premier League champions, while Yorkshire League 2 bounced back after last season’s relegation, winning Division 1 and earning promotion straight back to the top tier.
Pontefract also shone on the national stage, with three club members shortlisted for honours at the England Squash Awards in December. Rising stars Theo Hobman and Sienna Hampshaw were recognised in the 'Young Rising Star' category, with Sienna taking home the award. Meanwhile, Jayne Robinson was awarded Coach of the Year, a fantastic recognition of her dedication and impact.
Acknowledging Excellence
During the evening, James Willstrop extended heartfelt thanks to those who support the club behind the scenes and on the court. He highlighted the outstanding work being done not just with elite players and juniors, but also within schools and in the club’s mixed ability squash sessions, which run twice weekly and provide inclusive opportunities for adults with learning disabilities.
With coaching led by James Willstrop and Vanessa Atkinson, the club continues to develop players of all abilities and backgrounds, and this inclusive ethos was at the heart of the evening.
