Pontefract Squash Club
We have a total of 8 squash courts including 5 glass backs with viewing available on every court including our tiered seating area outside courts 1 and 2.
Our club caters for members and guests of all ages and abilities so whenever you decide to step into the club you will be sure of a warm friendly greeting and certain to find the level of squash you are seeking.
The club is officially recognised as a Centre of Excellence and one of the few select clubs, which have been granted Gold Charter status by the sports governing body, England Squash. The Club is a previous recipient of the award for ‘Club of the Year’.
CLUB SQUASH
Providing Coaching, Internal Mini Leagues, Members nights and a Ladies section, our club brings a lot to the table for players of all variations and skill-levels.
Annual tournaments include our Lesley Willstrop Doubles, a fun-themed competition for all shapes & sizes, our Club Championships where you can expect to play against some of the best, our Tom Abbott Handicap, a competition structured to ensure that every player has a fair chance regardless of the opponent, Summer Leagues to carry that thirst-for-the-game through the quieter summer months, and of course our Doubles Nights held throughout the year where you will be partnered through a lucky (or not so lucky) name grab from the hat.
JUNIOR SQUASH
Our club has a thriving junior section comprising of absolute beginners aged 3 years upwards to full international players who represent their country at the highest level.
We are once again very pleased to be hosting the first Junior Gold tournament of the new season and exceptionally grateful to Dunlop and AppsAnywhere for their support with sponsorship. This prestigious event will take place over the weekend of 8th to 10th December at the same two venues – Pontefract and Chapel Allerton clubs.

About Our Squash Club
Pontefract Squash Club enjoys an international reputation second to none.
Lee Beachill three times British Champion and former World No.1 and James Willstrop, former World Junior No.1 and also achieving the status of Men’s World No.1 in 2012, representing the club at the highest World levels.
Our long list of Adult and Junior players who have represented their county, region or country at international level is a firm indication of the consistent quality that is produced at this club. We have a thriving Ladies section which is comprised of mixed abilities and varying levels of competitiveness but with an equally enthusiastic involvement in the social activities that are arranged

The Coaching at the club was under the direction of Malcolm Willstrop who is acknowledged as having been one of the Worlds leading coaches. The coaching programme is now in the capable hands of his son and former world number 1 James Willstrop and it caters for all standards and ages and is accepted as one of the best in the country, attracting visiting players from all over the world.
The club is one of only a small number of clubs in the country to have a team in the Premier Squash League (National League). It is well represented in the Yorkshire and Leeds Metro Leagues and has its own internal leagues, so there is plenty of opportunity for competitive squash at all levels as well as the abundance of social squash that is enjoyed by the majority of members.
